I have been saying this at all forums and also diligently practiced this in my daily life to truly appreciate, people, phenomena and most of all be inspired by achievements
In the above spirit, I have always shared my humble beginnings truthfully not only to be grounded, but also, do onto others (share truthfully) what you want others to do onto you (share truthfully). My young daughters though, do not agree that I should be so forthcoming with sharing my background
Recently, i think i have lost an admirer who was very vocal in his praises and willingness to be part of my journey in life by volunteering to help and guide me in a very special skill that he clearly has - viz. writing books. He encouraged me to tell my story to the world.
Once i shared my humble beginnings with him vide my manuscript he has stopped being in touch with me, leave alone his offer to help me write my story.
I can think of many such incidents when the contrary has worked. Instead of appreciation, you will suddenly find a loss of the admiration and respect that you receive without them knowing your background struggle and humble beginnings
Don't let such people bother you. Keep on!!
Be a mirror to yourself and turn your inward "Nous" to help you stay anchored for greater and greater achievements. This anchor does not weigh you down but catapults you just like David's sling that slay the Giant.
